Changes in Residential Tenant and Landlord Notice Periods

The length of notice period is dependent on the length of the tenancy.

For Landlords this is:

  • Tenancies less than 12 months = no less than 4 weeks written notice.
  • Tenancies longer than 12 months but less than 10 years = no less than 8 weeks written notice.
  • Tenancies longer than 10 years = no less than 12 weeks written notice.

For Tenants this is:

  • Tenancies less than 10 years in length = minimum of 4 weeks written notice.
  • Tenancies more than 10 years in length = minimum of 12 weeks written notice.
